Dr. Sumeet Chugh from Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute, Los Angeles, reported in his study that about half of patients may not be aware of the signs of a heart attack. Symptoms such as chest pain is on the left, or trouble breathing.
"In the past, we believe that sudden cardiac death is an event that can not be predicted with little warning and leaves no time for intervention," said Dr. Sumeet as quoted by Reuters on Friday (25/12/2015).

Through his studies that examine patient data 839 sudden cardiac arrest, Dr. Sumeet found that the average marks can appear four weeks before the attack occurred. When an attack is getting close, 24 hours before the heart stops, the symptoms will often recur.
"By this means there is a new window of opportunity to predict and prevent sudden cardiac arrest. For many patients we can have plenty of time to intervene," said Dr. Sumeet.
The problem is, only one in five patients in the study were alert to the symptoms and seek medical help. Patients who had called emergency services the possibility of survivors of heart attacks increased sharply to 32 percent compared with those who never received help only six percent.
